Privacy Policy
Hey there! At Make It Easy! (operated by BB Sole Proprietorship, register number: 52392225), we want you to know that we’ve got your back when it comes to your privacy. We’ve designed our privacy policy to be clear on how we handle your info when you use our service.
We care about your privacy. We promise to respect and protect any information we may gather from you during our collaboration, through our website, and other sites we own and run. We’re all about keeping your personal data safe, and we’re in line with the General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”) and the California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018 (“CCPA”).
This privacy policy will run you through how we collect, use, disclose and secure your information. It also gives you a heads up on your rights and choices regarding your info, and how to get in touch with us if you’ve got any questions or concerns.
Collection and use of your personal data
1. Who’s in charge of your personal data?
The “controller” is typically a person who decides why and how personal data will be processed. That’s us!
2. How do we get your personal data?
We get your personal data directly from you. This usually happens when you fill in forms, install our app, communicate with us, or make agreements. We can also get personal data from third parties we work with and from public sources, social media or online platforms.
3. What kind of personal data do we process?
Contact and personal information
We process your basic info like your name, address, and VAT or ID number. If you’ve given them to us, we might also process your phone number and email address.
Log data
When you visit our website or use our app, our servers automatically log standard data provided by your web browser. This could include your IP address, browser type and version, the pages you visit, the time and date of your visit, the time spent on each page, and other details.
Billing information
We might also collect data about invoicing details, billing conditions, and payments received.
Information from our chats
We may also collect data from our communications such as emails, phone calls, contact forms, and the content of our communications.
Installation and settings data
We collect data about installation and settings like when you installed our app, your personal app settings, and the Shopify API key to improve our services and apps and your access to them.
4. The legal bit about how we process personal data
We process your personal data lawfully, fairly, and transparently. We only collect and process info about you when we have a legal basis to do so.
The legal basis depends on the services you use and how you use them. We only collect your info if:
- it’s necessary for the performance of an agreement between us, or to take steps at your request before entering into such an agreement (like when we provide you with services you’ve asked for);
- it satisfies a legitimate interest (which isn’t overridden by your data protection interests), such as for conducting research and development, to market and promote our services, and to protect our legal rights and interests;
- you give us consent to do so for a specific purpose (like when you sign up to receive our newsletter); or
- we need to process your data to comply with a legal obligation.
If you give us your consent to use your info for a specific purpose, you can change your mind at any time (though this won’t affect any processing that’s already happened).
We don’t keep your personal data for any longer than necessary. While we hold this data, we protect it to prevent loss, theft, and unauthorized access, disclosure, copying, use or modification. However, we need to point out that no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure, so we can’t guarantee absolute data security. If we need to, we may keep your personal info to comply with a legal obligation.
5. How long do we keep your personal data?
We’ll process and store your personal data for the duration of our agreement, and then for 3 years after our contractual relationship ends, unless otherwise stated.
We process personal data to defend our legal claims in court or similar proceedings, and will keep the data for a period of 15 years following contract termination, which represents the longest statute of limitation set by law.
Personal data processed based on our legal obligations from accounting, tax, and other statutory regulations, are stored for the time limit set by these regulations.
If you give us consent to process your personal data, you can withdraw it at any time. We want to let you know that if you choose to withdraw your consent, we might still need to keep some of your data to comply with our legal obligations. Please note that we may also keep the data if our legitimate interest allows us to do so.
Please note that even if you cancel your subscription or uninstall our app, we’re not obliged to delete all your personal data. We might still keep data obtained during the installation of the app, like your store URL, email address, and your first and last name for legal compliance purposes.
Your rights
1. General info
We make sure all personal data is processed properly and safely. You can exercise your rights with us, the data controller, by sending an email.
The information about your rights is free, unless the request for information is clearly unreasonable or excessive, especially if it’s repetitive. In this case, we may charge a reasonable fee to cover the administrative costs of providing the information.
We’ll respond to your request as soon as possible, but definitely within a month. If needed, we can extend this by two months, depending on the complexity and number of applications. We’ll let you know if we need to extend this, and why.
You have the following rights in addition to those already mentioned in this Privacy Policy:
2. Right to be informed and to access
You can ask if your personal data is being processed. If it is, you have the right to request information about:
- us, as the data controller;
- our representatives or personal data protection commissioners;
- the reason for processing the personal data;
- the categories of personal data;
- the recipients of personal data;
- your rights; and
- the option to ask the Office for Personal Data Protection about the sources of personal data processing as well as automated decision-making and profiling.
You can request a copy of your processed personal data. However, this can’t interfere with the rights and freedoms of other people.
If we plan to use the personal data for a different purpose than it was originally collected for, we’ll give you additional information and info about the intended purpose before we start any additional data processing.
3. Info from third parties
If we get personal data about you from a third party, we’ll protect it as laid out in this Privacy Policy. If you’re a third party providing personal data about someone else, you promise that you have their consent to give us the personal data.
4. Right to restrict
You can choose to limit the collection or use of your personal information. If you’ve previously agreed to us using your personal information for direct marketing purposes, you can change your mind at any time by getting in touch with us. If you ask us to restrict or limit how we process your personal information, we’ll let you know how this affects your use of our website or products and services.
5. Right to data portability
You can request details of the personal data that we hold about you. You can ask for a copy of the personal data we have about you. You can also ask us to move this personal data to another third party.
6. Right to erasure (or the right to be forgotten)
You can ask for your personal data to be deleted if, for example, the personal data is no longer needed for the reasons it was collected. We automatically delete personal data, but you can also request for it to be deleted. In this case, we’ll look at your request individually and let you know the outcome. Please note that in some cases we might still legally need to process your personal data.
7. Right to correction
If you think any information we have about you is incorrect, out-of-date, incomplete, irrelevant or misleading, please contact us. We’ll take reasonable steps to correct any information found to be inaccurate, incomplete, misleading or out-of-date.
8. Right to non-discrimination
If you choose to exercise your rights, like the right not to give us personal information or the right to ask us to delete your data, we can’t refuse to provide you with services, charge you different prices, or provide you with a different level of our services just because you’ve exercised your rights.
9. Complaints
If you think we’ve broken a relevant data protection law and want to make a complaint, please contact us and give us full details of the alleged breach. We’ll investigate your complaint promptly and reply to you in writing, explaining the outcome of our investigation and the steps we’re taking to deal with your complaint. You also have the right to contact a regulatory body or data protection authority about your complaint.
Info about automated individual decision-making
Automated decision-making is a decision made solely based on automated processing of your personal data. This means processing using, for example, software or algorithms, which doesn’t require human intervention.
We won’t make any decisions based solely on automated processing that would have legal consequences or significantly affect you.
Changes to this Privacy Policy
We might change our Privacy Policy from time to-time to reflect current acceptable practices. We’ll also take reasonable steps to let users know about changes via our website. If you continue to use this website after changes have been made to this Privacy Policy, it’ll be seen as acceptance of our practices regarding privacy and personal data.
If we make any significant changes to this Privacy Policy, like changing the lawful basis on which we plan to process your personal information, we’ll ask you to re-consent to the updated Privacy Policy.
